The scheme for provisioning of 4G based mobile services in 7287 uncovered villages of 44 aspirational districts of five states, viz., Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Odisha was approved on 17.11.2021. The RFP was floated on 07.12.2021 and the agreements were signed with M/s Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) for three States and M/s Bharti Airtel Limited (BAL) for two states on 20.05.2022 at a total cost of ₹3685 Crore. 

 

Status so far

 1- As of 31.05.2026, 4,718 villages have been connected by installing 3,054 mobile towers in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra. 
 
2- Further, 41 villages of Chhattisgarh has also been included under the project on the recommendation of MHA against the deleted villages/locations and letter issued to M/s RJIL vide dated 15-01-2026 having roll out period of 1 year i.e. upto 14-01-2027. As 31.05.2026, survey has been completed and 40 towers have been planned for covering 41 villages. Installation work is under progress.
